Terror Stop Lock and the Proper Stopper were created with your safety in mind. After working for decades on the installation of commercial doors, Jeff Tallent and Mike Knowles realized that there was no good solution for two things:

  1. Quickly stopping intruders from entering closed doors that are designed to remain unlocked for fire safety.
  2. Propping commercial doors open in a way that does not break or damage doors, frames or your back when it is time to load items into and out of rooms.

With a lifelong knowledge of commercial door design, Jeff quickly developed two devices that easily work out of the box and require no special installation. Better yet, he kept safety in mind and developed devices that do not need to block the floor, are tamper proof, and so easy to deploy that anyone can use them.

The Proper Stopper is built to put minimal strain on doors, frames and hinges.  The PS1 and the PS2 have magnets built into them for easy storage.

Both the Proper Stopper and Terror Stop Lock are a safe way to increase safety and decrease long-term maintenance costs at your commercial building or school.

Jeff Tallent

Jeff Tallent has worked in the commercial door industry for over thirty years for a door, frame and hardware distributorship and has gained and developed valuable knowledge throughout those years. He is the inventor of both the Terror Stop Lock and the Proper Stopper and has spent countless hours developing both products to help the public solve issues that needed to be addressed. His passion to help save incident people from harms way drives him to continue to succeed. Also, after being in the door, frame and hardware business as a distributor and running door installation crews, he has seen the damage and expense to doors and frames due to doors being improperly held open. Therefore, he knew he had figure out a fix in both areas, which he did. He continues to
be an integral part of this company and the continued success.

I’m Jeff Tallent, and I’d like to introduce the Terror Stop Lock.

I developed this lock with one thing in mind: to save lives by stopping and isolating intruders so that first responders can find and remove them.

This revolutionary new lock prevents intruders from entering a classroom or office that has an inward-swinging door and a metal frame. This keeps the intruder in the corridors, where they can easily be located by first responders.

  • Only authorized people can deploy the lock.
  • When not in use, the Terror Stop Lock is stored on the mounting bracket that attaches it to the  frame and wall.
  • The Terror Stop can be keyed to any commercial key system.
  • There’s no need to change existing door locks to install the Terror Stop Lock.

Michael Knowles has worked in the commercial door industry for over thirty years for a door, frame and hardware distributorship. The valuable knowledge throughout those years uniquely suit him to grow our concern. He has worked alongside Jeff Tallent to help create and develop the Terror Stop Lock and the Proper Stopper by utilizing his vast array of knowledge of doors, frames and hardware. Michael has a strong desire to help create products that will provide safety in hostile environments which the Terror Stop Lock addresses. In addition, he has been involved in many projects where he has witnessed doors and frames being damaged because of improper use and worked alongside Jeff to create the Proper Stopper to help correct those problems.
